The Com2Us Collection: Trapped: Undead Infection

Trapped: Undead Infection is a survival shooter by Com2Us Corp. $1.99

This game is an interesting one for me to review. I haven't seen many good reviews of the game, one example is was a 1 by Slide to Play. Being at $1.99 I find that it is a very fair price for what is available to do in the game, but for sure there are some elements which I can see that would turn off reviewers and gamers alike. I will talk more about these negatives later on but now for some fun parts of this game. It is basically a horror survival shooter where you are a scientist trapped in a large lab of some kind full of undead zombies. While you progress through the game you slowly regain your memory and learn about what is happening. The storyline in this game is very well implemented, which I didn't expect. I was thinking of your basic shoot and get a high score game.

For $1.99 what would you expect in the graphics department? Usually not anything near a premium game. This game, while the principal of every screen is pretty basic, has nice graphics that convey the spooky dark lab rooms that you would expect. The one slight winge I have about the graphics and motion in the game is that your scientist looks like he has been built on the walk of the zombies and seems like one himself. I reckon he should walk like a normal person and not so hunch-backed. We now come to the one really bad thing that may turn you off this game, the controls. The touchpad controls in an iDevice game either work well or they don't, and sadly these don't for me. While are enough to use with ease it is the way they are used which I don't like. You can only use one button at a time, so walking away from zombies and shooting makes it basically impossible. When there are two or more zombies coming towards you I think most of you agree that you want to shoot like crazy. No matter how much button mashing that goes on the weapons you use will shoot or be used then have a pause before working again. This is fine as it keeps one zombie at bay but multiple zombies means there is a strong likelihood of death. One last thing that I can think of is that the arrows get really annoying to use when finding exactly where you must be to shoot at a zombie and controls like in iDracula or Hero & Sparta may work better in situations like this.

The sound in Trapped:UD really sets the tone for the game. Even from the opening movie does the spooky setting come out. As said on the iTunes information page, "with spooky sound effects and an intense atmosphere," it is true to its word and is one of the spookiest games I have played on the iDevice. Only probably Soul Trapper and The Hysteria Project top Trapped on the Spookiness Table.

Overlooking the controls and you find a fun game to play. There is hours of freaky fun to be had. The aim of the game is to walk around corridors going into rooms to try and find a way to escape. Many things need to be done to continue such as finding keys to get past locked doors. In some places you can find guns and ammo to protect you from the zombies and in other you can find zombies to actually escape from. The zombies don't die in their first hit and as said above are quite hard to kill when fighting multiple zombies. There are many different weapons available for use in the game. One of the in game options to look at is a detailed map which shows you where you are and where you have to get to if you want to escape. As you progress further into the game it becomes more challenging, as expected, and challenges those which have mastered the game.

This is a very original game that I believe there should be more of in the App Store. There is alot in this game and but I don't know if you would want to replay this game. Sadly the controls bring down how much we liked the game, but I still think it is better than some reviews I have read, judging it like a $5 game. If I was you I would suggest at least reading some reviews left on the iTunes page and then decide if it is right for you. I just really hope that the controls can be improved for a more enjoyable playing experience.

Gameplay- 6.5/10
Graphics- 8.5/10
Sound- 9.5/10
Overall- 7.5/10

I would recommend this game if you enjoyed- iDracula
